How to configure Gmail SMTP server in Outlook

Gmail account can be configured in Outlook and emails can be accessed in one platform. SMTP and POP/IMAP server helps in proper incoming and outgoing of emails. Here are the steps to setup Gmail in Outlook –

  • Firstly setup Gmail to connect with Outlook. For that login to Gmail first.

  • Click on ‘Settings’ and then ‘Forwarding POP/IMAP’.

  • Also select ‘Enable POP for all mail that arrives from now on’ under ‘POP Download’.

  • Finally click on ‘Save Changes’.

  • Next login to Outlook account and click on ‘File’. Next click ‘Add Account’.

  • Now select ‘Manually configure server settings or additional server types’.

  • Click ‘Next’ and then ‘Internet Email’. Also enter the name, email address and password of the email account.

  • For Incoming server enter ‘pop.gmail.com’ and for Outgoing server enter ‘smtp.gmail.com’.

  • Click on ‘More Settings’ and select ‘My outgoing Server (SMTP)’ requires authentication.

  • Move to ‘Advanced’ tab.

  • In Incoming Server Port enter ‘995’ and for Outgoing Server Port enter ‘587’.

  • Test the account settings and save the account details.
